Fed: Defence to sign deal for chaff, flares

The defence force is to sign a deal to buy Australian-made pyrotechnics .. flares and
chaff used in aircraft self-protection systems to distract missiles.

Defence procurement secretary GREG COMBET says Defence is ready to enter into a 160-million
dollar ten-year deal with Chemring Australia to make the items in Australia.

The deal creates ongoing work for 40 employees.
