Sep. 9--Robinson Department Stores Plc said yesterday that it would adhere to the government's energy savings measures and that the new shorter operating hours could in fact boost daily sales at its branches in the Bangkok suburbs.
The early closing of shopping complexes in central Bangkok will prompt Bangkokians to rush back home after work and shop in their own neighbourhoods. Robinson will benefit from this trend due to the fact that most of the company's department stores are located in residential areas of Bangkok suburbs, said Preecha Ekkunagul, the company's president.
